Hrútey Island

I was just starting this post when I discovered there was a dog visiting our house!!!  Needless to say that postponed this blog a bit, but more on the adorable Icelandic sheepdog later.

Hrútey Island is a beautiful place located in the middle of the Blanda River in Blönduós.  Other than the beach, it is the only park, other than the beach, that isn't a long, unsafe stroll down the highway.  I'll probably be spending a lot of time there.  The island itself is gorgeous and it's filled with little mushrooms, flowers, goose eggs, succulents, elf homes, etc.  The pictures speak for themselves.

Crossing the questionable bridge onto the island.  There is a sign printed on someone's home computer that says no more than one or two people on the bridge at a time.

It looks like elves live here.

Beautiful ancient lichen everywhere.

The bugs can be a bit bothersome, but even here you can see how beautiful it is in spite of them.

Shadows on the cliff looking back at the island.

The view back at home.  Every type of lighting is wonderful here.
